STAR of Coastal Georgia works to help individuals in our local community learn the skills they need to thrive on their personal and professional journeys.
We are a nonprofit organization located in Brunswick, Georgia, offering a variety of workshops and courses on workplace skills, computer knowledge, financial literacy, career development, and life readiness. Our name STAR stands for SKILLS, TRAINING, ADVANCEMENT, and READINESS. Financial Literacy
Workshops: 1 hour to 4 hours*
This workshop is essential to those who seek to learn the basics of financial literacy. Students will learn the fundamentals of budgeting, basic investing, major purchasing, and more. This workshop is offered at no charge and takes place in various locations in Brunswick and St. Marys, GA. Specific dates may be age-specific (i.e., for seniors). Workshops are offered throughout the year; check our calendar for a current schedule.
Career Development
Workshops: 1 hour to 4 hours*
STAR offers different levels of our computer skills training: Computer Basics & Navigation Workshop, for those who need to learn the fundamentals of computer navigation, and Computer Intermediate Skills Workshop. In addition, we offer computer literacy workshops specifically for adults ages 55 and older. Computer workshops are offered at no charge and take place in various locations in Brunswick, as well as St. Marys, GA. Workshops are offered throughout the year; check our calendar for a current schedule.
Teen
Workshops: 1 hour to 2 hours*

Workforce
Certificate Program
32 hour course: 4 days/week for 4 weeks
Over 5 weeks (Monday through Thursday mornings, 9:00 AM-12:00 PM), students will learn office professionalism, workplace ethics, interview techniques, job search methods, computer literacy and software skills, goal setting and problem solving, money management, conflict resolution, and public speaking, among other valuable skills. ERP takes place at STAR's offices in historic downtown Brunswick.
Students who complete ERP are welcome to return by appointment for "refresher" content and resume-writing assistance
